Then, out of nowhere the frontdoor, was open and there stood Brady, in the dooropening. I was dazed bij how beautiful he really was. I couldn't speak. I was just staring at his face, where I saw a faint smile appearing.
"I'm sorry for interrupting you, but I was wondering if Valerie would want to walk to school with me? I moved here Saturday and I saw you walking here yesterday."
"Yes, of course, I would like to" I stuttered.
Angela handed me my bag and Brady and I walked outside, towards the school.
"So, where did you live first? before you moved here? Because you are not new on school?"
"I lived further outside of town, near Puget Sound"
I smiled
"Oh, that's far away from school, isn't it?"
"It's closer than you think." he smiled faintly.
When we reached the shoolground he walked with me towards my locker.
"Well, I guess, I'll see you later"
"Yeah, I guess so, we have history today right?"
"Yes, I'll see you then."
He walked away from me, and I only saw now how graceful and well-dressed he was, I blushed, because I was totally into him. He'd been so sweet and nice.
The bell rang and I quickly took my books and walked to Alex, who had been spying on me since the beginning of the conversation with Brady. She quickly walked over to me.
"So? You and the strange one?"
"Oh, No, he has moved to my street, you know, that big creapy house that has been empty for months?"
"Oh, right. Scary"
"He picked me up for school, very sweet"
"So? You do like him? He's very handsome, you know."
"Yes, I know" I blushed.
She saw my blush and giggled. Alex tucked me towards calcules, where when I opened the door, Brady was sitting in the chair next to mine. I was staring and Mr. Warner had to call my name to get my attention.
"Miss Moore? Miss Sun? will you please take your seats?"
"Yes" I mumbled and shuffled towards my seat.
I sat down and took out my books and calculator. Alex was glaring at me and suddenly turned around. a few seconds later I got a text message, Alex's of course. It said:
Hw-Tee staring @ U wth bg Smle! Think He Lkes U! XO
The next day I woke up at 5:30, hearing strange noises around the house. I heard my name and wanted to look through the window tho I was scared to see something I didn't want to. The windows were misted so I rubbed my hand over it. I was shocked because the window felt warm while it was freezing outside. when I looked through it I felt someone brushing along my back. I turned around abruptly but didn't see anything. I turned around again looking outside, searching for something that didn't belong there.
Then I saw him, that it was a man was obvious. his posture was slight tho still muscular. I couldn't see his face but something told me I already knew him, or I already had seen him somewhere. I blinked and looked back at the man, or the place where he'd been standing because he was gone. just of nothing.
I got back on my bed and sighed. I couldn't really fall asleep again so I decided to read something, the wind still whipping around the house and sometimes I heard my name again. I didn't want to look through the window again looking for what had called my name. Probably I was just imagining things.
At 7:30 I got out of bed and dressed up for school taking my books and walking downstairs towards the kitchen. Angela was already there in her nightgown. I rolled my eyes.
"Morning" she said a bit too excited
"Morning" I mumbled back
"Something wrong? she asked
"No, I just woke up at 5:30 because of the wind"
"Oh, I see"
She took something from a cupboard and gave it to me.
"Here this will help you through the day"
I looked at the bottle she gave me. Vitamin D.
"Err...Thanks"
I got ready for school and took off. when I got to the door and wanted to open it, it was stuck
"Mom, have you locked to frontdoor?
"No, I didn't and Russell is with Carolyn so he couldn't have done it either, Is something wrong?
"I can't get it open" I answered
"You can take the backdoor"
I walked towards the back of the house and tried the door. Stuck. I walked back to the kitchen.
"That one is stuck too"
I lay there for a few minutes. Than I decided it wasn't the best thing to be depressed all day with my History test coming up. I wasn't that bad in History but it could have bin better.
When I managed to get the tears out of my eyes and got seated at my desk with my laptop weezing and my history books in front of me, I suddenly got all distracted I couldn't concentrate on the first world war or Adolf Hitler wanting to conquer the world and make it all Chatolic with people with blond hair and blue eyes. My eyes welled up when I thought of all the people who were killed in the concentration camps, the Jewish people in particular,
wait there ringed a dimm bell. Bradley was Jewish, or at least I thought so. Bradley, the strange, pale, beautiful, brown-haired boy who sat besides me in History, who didn't pay any attention to me and didn't seem to like me like all the other boys in school. why they all liked me was a mistery to me. Who was I? Valerie Phoebe Moore, a book fanatic, not blond or with cup-size C and definetly not extremely good-looking, at least I thought so. I always had the opinion my reddish-brown hair never fell into place just right, tho, I had bin prom queen and I went to prom with the quarterback of the football team, Nick but I didn't like him really. He's just so superficial and only talks about sports. I just need someone who has more hobby's and interests, with more of a personality.
"Russell, Valerie! I'm Home" Angela yelled when she came in with the groceries.
"Hi, mom" I yelled back, still regretting the word 'mom' because she just wasn't my mom.
"Valerie! come help me with dinner!
"Mom, I'm studying!
I heard her coming up the stairs. she came into my room and sat down on my bed.
"Val, your always up in your room, you never go out anymore, what happened to your friends? she asked.
"I see them at school" I said a bit annoyed now.
"what about Alex? she never comes over anymore.
"Mom, don't worry, she's my best friend and she has her diploma to reach too. I don't wanna fail on this.
I was walking towards the graves of my mom and dad. There was a light breeze that made me shiver and blew my reddish brown hair in my face. I heard footsteps behind me in the grass but as I turned around to see, there was nobody. Maybe I'm a bit Paranoïa. I had Fresia's in my hand and I could strongly smell them. Under the old oak - wich have been standing there since my parents died - the two gravestones made of granit where becoming green. I took the napkin and started to make them clean. I suddenly heard a voice.
"You come here much, don't you" the angelic male voice said. I didn't turn around to see the man who was talking to me I just when on scrubbing.
"Yes I do, for my parents" I said in a small voice.
"How old are you? The voice asked me.
"I'm eighteen"
"In what year did your parents die?
"1994" I said. I was done cleaning the gravestones and turned around to see the person who was talking to me but there was nobody.
"Who are you? I asked the voice.
"You know me" He said.
"Where do I know you from? I didn't get an answer on that one.
"Hello?
I shrugged and layed the Fresia's next to the gravestones and gave them both a kiss. "Bye, Mom and Dad"
I walked to the exit of the Graveyard. It was raining slightly now, but I hadn't felt it under the oak. I stepped into the my car and drove back towards seattle. Had that strange boy followed me or something? He'd said I knew him from school. I turned onto the highway and sped up to 60. after half an hour is suddenly rushed into my mind. I'm just going to look for this angelic voice in school. but as soon as it came in it got out too. I can't just compare every male voice in a school of a thousend students. "Valerie, sometimes your so stupid"
As I came home it was raining harder and I ran inside. My boots where full of mud and I kicked them off and walked into the kitchen, opening the refrigerator. The stinch overwhelmed me a second, then I grabbed the fish and threw it into the garbage bin.
"Russell? Did you leave that fish in the refrigerator? Russell, my big brother walked slowly down from the stairs, still wearing his pyjama's.
"oops, sorry. I think I left it there yesterday."
"Why are you're not already dressed up sleepyhead? It's 2 o'clock?
"It was a bit late last night" He grimassed.
"Where's mom? I asked
"Shopping with Carolyn"
Carolyn, Russell girlfriend, had a very close relationship with our adoptive mom, Angela, she had taken care of us since my twinsister Theresa and I were two, and Russell was four. I haven't seen Theresa since my parents died. She was left behind at the orphanage because people thought she was strange, because she always asked why your were feeling happy or sad. I still think she was gifted.
"Val? Russell interupted me being deep in thought. "Have you seen my math book? He asked me.
"No, I don't" Russell Is studying mathemetics at Seattle University.
"I'm going to do my homework" I said and I walked upstairs to my small bedroom with dark green walls and a wooden floor, a big bed with purple bedding, a desk with my computer and my overstocked bookshelves.
